Take a moment and answer this question:
Do you personally know at least one person in most of the following countries?
Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Ghana, Rwanda, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Peru, Spain, Jordan, Egypt, Hungary, Fiji, Algeria, Maldives, Ethiopia, Tunisia, United States, Philippines, Brunei, Mauritius, Malawi, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Canada, Cambodia, Ecuador, Finland, Kyrgyzstan, Malawi, Portugal and Zambia.
Do you personally know people located in 20 different countries?
There are 195 countries in the world. To date, University of the People has accepted students from over 110 countries. For each subject, 20 students are likely to be with students from around 20 different countries in the same virtual classroom.
What this means is that students of University of the People get heightened exposure to diversity, and study alongside not just physical neighbors, but people from around the world. We have created an environment that simply cannot be replicated in a textbook. In a global world, diversity in the classroom itself is an important lesson; quite possibly as important as the student’s subject of study.
Crossing numerous inhibitions to global dialogues – including physical boundaries, economic barriers, societal castes, religious differences and more – we are proud that UoPeople’s virtual classrooms provide cross-cultural international dialogues via peer learning, in order to enrich student’s lives and futures with exposure to global diversity.
What are your experiences of being a student in one of our diverse virtual classrooms?
