Kirolos E. was born in Egypt, his engineer father and a homemaker mother had big dreams for their son. Kirolos enrolled in a government primary school for his early education but soon became known as an exceptional stand-out student.

He shared with us one of his big accomplishments, “I began prep school and in 9th grade I achieved 99.8%, I was ranked third in the entire school. I am proud that I managed to get into the prestigious Zewail high school. They only accept 150 students who earn a minimum of 99.5% after a screening test in English, Science, Mathematics, and an IQ test.”

There’s no doubt that Kirolos is a smart student, but what keeps him motivated? “Science and research are my biggest passions in life,” he says with a smile. It’s no surprise then that Kirolos is driven to become a doctor. “I think the key to being a great doctor is to continuously learn new techniques and concepts.”

Kirolos knew that to achieve his dreams he needed higher education. Several colleges and universities in other countries sent him offers but Kirolos didn’t want to leave his family in Egypt. In addition to a busy life with family responsibilities, Kirolos also works in a pharmacy. It provides him with experience in the field of medicine.

But juggling family life and work is difficult in itself. “That is when I realized I needed a 100% online university that was both affordable and high-quality,” he told us.

One day Kirolos received a message from a friend about University of the People. “I was curious, so I looked up UoPeople online and was immediately excited at the prospect of earning an online, American- accredited college degree. I was also very impressed by the academic leadership. That is why I chose UoPeople.”

How does Kirolos feel about studying at UoPeople? It’s been four terms since I started and I am so glad I chose UoPeople,” he says with a smile. “I also love the fact that the course load is flexible, there is no minimum requirement. I can do what is best for me.”

Kirolos is earning his Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. “I want to discover something special that helps people. This need I feel to help others has grown after the COVID-19 pandemic,” he says.

University of the People is glad to be a flexible and affordable solution for students all over the globe seeking to pursue online higher education. We know that Kirolos will go far and are humbled to be a part of his journey.
