Asynchronous Learning is Helping Health Science Student, Ige E. Study on the Go! 

Ige was born and raised in Nigeria by parents who did their best even with limited financial resources. As a boy, Ige was always passionate about health and medicine and planned to one day earn a degree in health science.    

Unfortunately, after graduating high school, he was not admitted to any universities. Spots in Nigerian universities are extremely limited and only around 25% of students who apply get in. He waited for another year and tried again but with no luck. That’s when Ige began looking for an online school that could offer affordable, high-quality online education. 

“I came across University of the People somewhere in my web searches and decided to check it out. I registered that very day and a few days later, I was enrolled in the program of my choice,” he says. “I cannot fully express how happy it made me and my family. I’m sure this degree will change the trajectory of my career.” 

Ige loves how the asynchronous learning schedule allows him time to be with family, make a living, and study on the go. Although it’s not easy juggling all these roles, Ige chooses to see it as a challenge, not a problem.  

Ige is hopeful that his bachelor’s degree in health science will land him a good position in a large healthcare company in his town. He then plans on earning his master’s degree to further improve his chances of success in the field. 

“I am passionate about making it big in life. My family has seen some hard days over the past few years. I want to be a successful health science professional and bring in more financial stability,” he tells us.
